Having gone through a successful Kickstarter campaign for CasinoRPG in early 2013, we know how hard it is to get noticed and scrap all the way to your goal, especially if your name isn't Tim Schafer. So, we've decided to help spread the word about our fellow indie game developers and post a weekly roundup of our favorite games we've stumbled across lately.

Rain World

In the ruins of an ancient alien civilization, a lonely slugcat vies to hunt and survive deadly rains in a harsh closed eco-system.

I don't know what it is about this game. I don't even know what the creature is that you are playing. But, something just feels right about Rain World, and all I know is that I really want to play it! Certainly a uniquely odd art and mechanics style, but it has a character about it that is unmistakeable. The music also has an air about it that is simply sublime, and you know I'm a big fan of great audio in games! Rain World blew past its funding goal, but there are still early bird spots to be had.

Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians

A rich, diverse Tactical RPG, envisioned by the master of the genre Yasumi Matsuno, Playdek, and you, the fans!

You can't argue with the results, Playdek has made some great mobile experiences in the past, and Unsung Story simply takes it to the next level. The video doesn't reveal much about the game itself, other than the fact that they've got some influential designers on board, but the concepts and ideas presented are simply fantastic. If you are as excited to see where this goes as I am, you've got a little less than a month to jump on board.

LEVEL

An adventure game with unique platforming puzzles. For iOS / Android Tablets, Win, Mac, OUYA, Linux

Puzzle platformers are always a lot of fun if the mechanics are uniquely fun and the challenges are positioned just right. LEVEL is one of those games that offers a fun theme/style with some interesting puzzle mechanics that should offer a good mix of challenges. They need your help to complete a successful campaign, and there's a bit over 2 weeks to go!

Olympia Rising

Fight, climb, and explore your way through the vast depths of the Underworld on a quest to reach Mount Olympus.

As I've said in the past, platformers were never my favorite genre, but some of them just stand out to me. Olympia Rising is one of those games. The 8-bit pixel graphics are simply stunning, and if you play the free demo you'll find an engaging experience awaits. Sure, it still needs a good coat of polish, but that is the exact reason they are coming to Kickstarter. Even if 8-bit platformers aren't your thing, you should still give this one a chance with nearly a month to go!

Dodge Wars: Battle for Mt. Olympus

Dodge Wars is a fast 3v3 arcade style dodge ball game with customizable super moves, armors and arenas filled with exciting hazards.

As you know, I'm a big fan of games that don't try to take themselves too seriously, and Dodge Wars does a great job of that. It also does a great job of mixing a familiar concept (dodge ball) with some interesting new mechanics. One would assume that this game will only go as far as the multiplayer, but if that side of things pans out then it should be a fun time. You've still got 3 weeks to help this one reach its goal.
