Having gone through a successful Kickstarter campaign for CasinoRPG in early 2013, we know how hard it is to get noticed and scrap all the way to your goal, especially if your name isn't Tim Schafer. So, we've decided to help spread the word about our fellow indie game developers and post a weekly roundup of our favorite games we've stumbled across lately.

Wayward Terran Frontier

Design a star ship and explore a massive galaxy with your friends. Fight space monsters and find some loot. Or be a pirate...

Not only is this game about space and everything that comes with that, but it also focusses on total creative freedom. Each is exciting on its own, but when combined, an interesting concept emerges that is pure old-school fun. The ship designer really gives unlimited possibilities, and I can't wait to try it out myself. They need your help over the next few weeks, so be sure to get in on those early birds!

Algo-Bot

Award winning 3D game in which you achieve your missions using Code Logic. No developers were harmed during the making of this game.

I don't often find these "learn to code by playing a video game" concepts to be very interesting, and it is no surprise that they don't often find success on Kickstarter. Algo-Bot also has quite a ways to go before reaching its goal; however, I think this unique approach has the potential to not only provide introductory programming skills, but also a fun game at the same time. There's only 10 days left and they need your help!

Cashtronauts

Mine asteroids, evade the authorities and hunt pirates in this frenetic space-capitalist game for 1 to 4 players!

Another space game, but in a very different vein from others that I've covered. Where many space games are all about exploration, role-playing and strategy, Cashtronauts takes you on an action-packed joy ride of color and pure arcade-style fun. Don't mistake this for just a mini-game though, there's a lot more depth to the game in addition to the multiplayer elements. If you are just looking for some lighter (and more colorful) space fun with a unique art style, be sure to stop by Cashtronauts in the next three weeks.

Dark Lands

Take your hero on an epic journey of defeating evil forces who corrupted the land. Destroy enemies, avoid traps, fight bosses!

Since starting these roundups, the platformers have begun to grow on me, and this is yet another example of why that is. What really caught my eye with this game is the striking visual design. Wonderful use of parallax and lighting in the background combined with a unique silhouette art style in the foreground makes for a visually stunning experience. Jump into this one within the next three weeks.

Zombie Company Crusade

Zombie Company Crusade is an iPhone/iPad/Android mobile real time strategy game. Defend your base, kill zombies, and save the world.

I've never gotten into the zombie craze of the last few years, but the RTS elements of this game caught my eye. For whatever reason, I haven't come across a lot of real time strategy games on Kickstarter, and this cross platform zombie RTS makes me nostalgic for the glory days of the RTS. There's still over three weeks to get in on the gory action here.
